Terason at Royal London

4th April 2019

Pictured following delivery and training on a Terason uSmart 3200t ultrasound system supplied by Vertec Scientific and wholly funded by a grant from Barts Charity, to The Royal London Hospital are (from left): Regional Anaesthesia Lead for The Royal London Dr Tim Egan, Operating Department Practitioner Grace Ito and Vertec product specialist Gavin Adcock.

Ultrasound is becoming the imaging modality of choice for anaesthetists to accurately guide their needle to the right place as it shows veins and nerves so well and repeated imaging carries the minimum risk. The Terason 3200t is a portable ultrasound system that can be used in a hospital setting or a variety of hostile environments including ambulances and helicopters. It features excellent imaging, fast boot time so as to be in action quickly, smart electronics to improve accuracy of identifying needle tip for out-of-plane procedures and enhanced needle visualisation to provide better needle guidance at steeper angles without image degradation.

For patients this all means that they are assessed very quickly and the procedure is as accurate and fast as possible.
